The invention relates to a tomography apparatus (1) for generating sectional images of an object (4) in a measurement plane, comprising: a radiation source (2) emitting a radiation beam (6), wherein the radiation beam (6) rotates in the measurement plane relative to the object (4) and penetrates the object (4); a radiation detector (3) rotating around the object (4) in the measurement plane opposite the radiation source (2), so that the radiation detector (3) detects the radiation beam (6) after penetration of the object (4); a radiation mask (7) for masking the radiation beam (6), wherein the radiation mask (7) is arranged in the path of the radiation beam (6) between the radiation source (2) and the radiation detector (3). The inventors propose an arrangement in which the radiation beam (6) passes the radiation mask (7) only once between the radiation source (2) and the radiation detector (3).
