Volatile organic hazardous substances in the workplace air mainly exist in vapour form. To prevent the ambient pollution of working areas, volatile substances have been increasingly replaced with less volatile ones in the last few years. The droplets of these less volatile substances can remain in the air for a relatively long time and can no longer be neglected during sampling. The rules and regulations have been accordingly modified in the meantime. The paper reports on the GGP Mini sampling head developed at the Institute for Occupational Safety and Health of the German Social Accident Insurance (IFA) which effectively meets the differing needs of particle and vapour sampling. It is designed for flow rates ranging from 0.066 to 0.5 l/m. Initial tests have shown a recovery rate of around 100% for the sum of vapour and droplets. The collection results for droplets and vapour by themselves vary greatly and only their sum can be determined reproducibly and with good repeatability.
